Life is puzzling. We only see one piece at a time, which can leave us questioning God about the bigger picture. The Bible encourages us to trust God, even with the unknown, but that is easier said than done.
As I look through the Bible, I see many people who were asked to trust God, even when the road ahead seemed a bit ridiculous. Noah was asked to build an ark when there was no rain in sight. Gideon was asked to fight a battle with a small army and a very random war strategy. Joshua and the Israelites were asked to march around the city of Jericho. And though God’s direction didn’t always make sense in the end the rain came, the enemy was defeated and the walls to the city fell. God can be trusted.
It felt like my entire world was turned upside down in 2016, everything changed. If life is like a puzzle, then the pieces of mine were scattered on the table and I couldn’t quite see how they were going to fit together again. God is faithful and is slowly revealing the bigger picture. Perhaps this is how Noah felt when he saw the first drop of rain.
The adventure continues as we head into 2017. I continue to trust God with an uncertain future because that is what obedience is. I always thought it was about following rules, but now I know it is less about following rules and more about following God.
If 2016 left you feeling lost and broken, then I encourage you to trust that God can take those random pieces and fit them together in such a way it creates a masterpiece! He is faithful and his timing is perfect. He can bring the rain, conquer your enemies, and give you victory!
